Itinerary:

Day One:  Fly from U.S. to Brussels Int Airport - most flights depart the afternoon and arrive mid-to-late morning the next day.

Day Two:  Arrive Brussels, to be met by Doug and transportation.  Travel the short distance to Ieper, BE, and check-in at the hotel. We will spend the rest of the day on tour orientation, a visit to the Essex Farm Cemetery (nearby LTCOL John McCrae wrote his famous poem "In Flander's Fields" which came to signify the tragedy of WW I), and seeing picturesque Ieper.  View the "Last Post" ceremony at 8 p.m. at the Menin Gate, the eternal bugle call to the British and Commonwealth missing of the war.  Overnight - Ieper.

Day Three:  Tour the infamous and significant, especially to the British, Ypres Salient:  Hill 60 highground over which huge battles were fought, Tyne Cot Cemetery, Passchendaele, St. Julien (site of the first gas attack against the Canadians), and Langemark German Cemetery. You will now understand the terrific battles fought here and the mark WW I made on the course of history.  Overnight - Ieper.

Day Four:  Travel to the northwest corner of France to visit the Battery Todt (museum within) - one of the most important German WW II coastal "Atlantic Wall" fortifications - and the incredible V-2 bunker complex at Eperlecques (also a V-1 on display).  You truly realize the historical origins of present day space programs after this visit.  We'll also drive to Cape Griz-Nez - and see England on a clear day across the Channel! Then on to the Vimy Ridge Canadian Memorial for a tour of its impressive tunnel and trench system.  Overnight in Arras, FR.

Day Five: Tour the major WW I Somme Battlefield sites:  the Beaumont Hamel Canadian Park dedicated to the Newfoundlers, the Thiepval Memorial which commemorates 74,000 British and South African missing, and the Lochnagar Crater - an enormous pit 100 yards across at the top that demonstrates the futility of mine warfare.  Overnight - on to Bayeux and the beautiful Normandy Region.

Day Six:  A busy day will be spent seeing the main and best WWII D-Day sites - a walk on the Omaha Beach of "Saving Private Ryan" action, the St. Laurent American Cemetery, Pointe-du-Hoc (U.S. Rangers action scaling the cliffs!), St. Mere-Eglise (Airborne Museum), and Utah Beach.  Overnight - Bayeux.

Day Seven:  Free-time during the morning in Bayeux (see the Normandy Tapestry or stroll the charming streets); then finish the Normandy sites by viewing the spectacular remains of the Port Mulberry at Arromanches (also visit the museum that commemorates this British-built, man-made harbor constructed to receive the tons of supplies necessary for the June 1944 landings).  Drive on to Amiens or Compiegne for the overnight.

Day Eight: Visit the Compiegne Memorial and Museum - the railroad car and site of the WW I Armistice, and, the WW II French surrender to the revenge-seeking Germans; then on to the areas of main WW I American actions in the Aisne-Marne region - Belleau Wood (operations by the Marine 4th Brigade) and a visit to the famous U.S. Hill 204 WW I Monument.  Overnight - Chateau Thierry.

Day Nine:  Another full day as we drive to the main WW I American Monuments and Memorials in the Meuse-Argonne Region - Montfaucon and the U.S. Cemetery at Romagne.   Commence seeing some Verdun Battlefield sites (see Day 10).  Overnight - Verdun or nearby Marre.

Day Ten:  Tour the Verdun Fleury Museum, Battlefield Grounds, the Ossuary Monument to the Missing, and Trench of the Bayonets.  Then we'll drive east  of Metz to get a tour of the amazing Maginot Line Hackenberg Fort.  Overnight - Diekirch or Larochette, LX.  OPTION: If the group desires an alternative, we'll skip Hackenberg, and, see the American WW I Monument at Montsec in the St. Mihiel Salient and the U.S WW II Cemetery at Hamm, Luxembourg (GEN Patton gravesite).

Day Eleven:  Visit the National Military Museum of Luxembourg (features Battle of the Bulge) in Diekirch.  Tour a small part of the battlezone nearby (a 109th Infantry, 28th PA Keystone Division area of action), and also some German Siegfried Line positions. Then we'll drive to Bastogne, Belgium - the surrounded small town where GEN McAuliffe said "Nuts" to the German surrender demand! - to visit the museum and monument dedicated to the Americans of this heroic battle.  Proceed on to Namur-area or Genk, BE for our final overnight.
